Eligibility

  • Applicant must be an eligible producer as defined in Alberta Canola’s bylaws. Eligible Producers are either:
    • INDIVIDUALS: Sold canola under their own name and paid a service charge to Alberta Canola in the last two crop years.
    • NON INDIVIDUALS: Are the appointed representative of a corporation, partnership, or organization that has sold canola and paid a service charge to Alberta Canola in the last two years.
       
    • For the 2025 National Farm Leadership Program, eligible producers have sold canola and paid a service charge since August 1, 2022
       
  • The eligible producer must not have requested a service charge refund from Alberta Canola in the previous two crop years.
     
  • Alberta Canola directors are not eligible to apply.
     
  • Alberta Canola staff are not eligible to apply.

 

Application at a Glance

  • Apply to Alberta Canola for the Walter Paszkowski Farm Leadership Award by January 10, 2025
     
  • Alberta Canola will notify the selected recipient of the Walter Paszkowski Farm Leadership Award by January 13, 2025
     
  • Applicants are required to attend a one-hour session with LeaderShift prior to registering for the National Farm Leadership Program. The purpose of the conversation is to answer any question you may have and to clarify the program requirements for participation in the National Farm Leadership Program. Book a time with Kelly Dobson to see if "you willing to take a hard look at yourself to level up"?
     
  • Apply for the National Farm Leadership Program by January 17, 2025
     
  • The Alberta Canola application for the Walter Paszkowski Farm Leadership Award consists of 5 short questions about why you are interested in attending the National Farm Leadership Program.

 

Selection of Recipient

  • Alberta Canola will verify applicants meet the qualifications of being an eligible producer. 
     
  • A selection committee comprised of representatives from Alberta Canola, Farm Management Canada, and LeaderShift will review all applications and select a recipient.
     
  • A maximum of one recipient per year will be awarded the $5000 Walter Paszkowski Farm Leadership Award
     
  • Alberta Canola reserves the right to not present an award on an annual basis.
     

Course Fees and Award Payment

  • The National Farm Leadership Program fee is $11,990.00 per person to be paid in full by the applicant. Additional expenses including travel for residency is not included in the course fee.
     
  • Alberta Canola will reimburse the selected recipient $5,000.00 upon receipt of a certificate of completion from LeaderShift.
