Gord Kurbis is Vice President of Trade Policy and Crop Protection at the Canada Grains Council, where he leads the development of policies and positions on market access, domestic regulation and trade issues related to pesticide use and approvals.
Gord’s 25+ years in the Canadian grain industry have covered trade issues ranging from tariffs to phytosanitary issues to technology use to free trade agreements, as well as domestic regulatory issues related to Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency and the CGC’s Market Acceptance of Pesticide Use policy.
He has also participated in senior roles at government/industry trade forums associated with Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Codex, World Trade Organization (WTO), the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), and the International Plant Protection Convention, as well as technology and market access focused roles at the International Grain Trade Coalition, the Global Pulse Federation, and the International Agri-Food Network.
