Dave joined CCGA in 2020 in the newly created position of Vice President, Government & Industry Relations where he leads the organization’s lobbying efforts and spends his days engaging directly with federal policymakers, their staff and industry partners.
Prior to joining CCGA Dave served as the Executive Director of the Canadian Seed Trade Association (Seeds Canada).
Dave began his career on Parliament Hill as a senior political staffer for Members of Parliament from Ontario and Alberta and for the Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade. He also held senior roles on three election campaigns.
Dave currently serves as Treasurer and Member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance (CAFTA) and in 2021, Dave founded and now Co-Chairs the Agriculture Carbon Alliance (ACA), a first of its kind coalition of 15 national farm groups focused on advocacy on agri-environmental policy issues.
Dave is an active member of the Government Relations Institute of Canada (GRIC) where he serves as a Government Relations Mentor and also sits on the Sponsor and Advisory Board of the Parliamentary Internship Programme (PIP).
Dave has been recognized by his peers for his excellence in government relations and was included in the ‘The Hill Times Top 100 Lobbyists in 2021 and 2022’.
Dave holds and Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Law and numerous university certificates in change management, risk management, negotiation and corporate strategy.
Dave lives in Ottawa with his wife Jovette and daughter’s Sophie and Abbey.
