Jennifer grew up in Warner, Alberta, she earned a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Lethbridge and a M.Sc. in Entomology from the University of Manitoba. She began her career in research as a federal summer student working at the Lethbridge Research Centre where she worked many summers before completing her M.Sc. research examining Lygus in canola.
Since 1999, Jennifer was hired as a Pest Management Biologist and now Scientist. Research conducted by the IPM program encompasses all field crops grown in the Peace River region; integrated pest management in agricultural field crops, examining insect pests and beneficial insects in canola, wheat and perennial grasses and legume seed production systems, and the underlying aim is to characterize arthropod biodiversity and insect-plant interactions in field crops both through surveying and research plot studies. In addition to managing the IPM Program, Jennifer has acted as Coordinator for the Prairie Pest Monitoring Network since 2008 and her program developed the PPMN’s Blog. Jennifer has 25 years of research experience and collaborates with entomologists and agronomists from across western Canada.
